When chatting with a client yesterday (who has really become more like a friend over the last few years), she asked why I hadn’t blogged much throughout 2013. It turns out I didn’t blog AT ALL in 2013. What!!? Work and life and 2 young children kept me busy. Too busy without the added task of blogging. And that’s the problem, I started to see it as a chore rather than a place to express myself and to share my work. Well, I’m turning over a new leaf people! Sarah (my dear client and friend) encouraged me to look back over the last 12mths and share my work. I couldn’t help but smile when late in the afternoon she followed up our conversation with an email that simply said ‘DO IT!!’. So what better way to start than with a shoot I did exactly one year ago today. The Dior Sydney Flagship Store Launch was at Catalina and when Dior wants to say it has arrived, it says it with flowers! Vases upon vases were filled with antique roses, gardenias, hydrangeas, David Austin roses, blackberries, lisianthus and asparagus fern and the scent as guests entered the room was intoxicating. Flowers are significant for the House of Dior. Christian Dior loved flowers and cultivated them in his country garden at Granville in France and referred to the silhouettes of his famous New Look collection as his “Flower Women”. Guests included Tina Arena, Isabel Lucas, Collette Dinnigan, Megan Gale, Geoff Huegill, model Nicole Pollard as well as Dior executives including chief executive Sidney Toledano. Here’s a snapshot of the room x

Ali, this was one of ‘my’ favourite shoots you have done. I remember the first time I saw your shots, and I was mesmerized how you captured such beauty and exquisite detail in each picture. It was magical, and to be reminded of this now after your blog post today…well, it made me smile, your talent is precious, hang onto that x
